After a leisurely fundraising stopover in Colorado, where he was avoided by top Democrat officials, President Obama flew to Texas for a meeting with Texas Governor Rick Perry and local officials in Dallas to discuss the surge of illegal migrant minors crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. By all accounts, he will not be using the trip to survey the border situation firsthand.
During the meeting however, a photographer for Reuters caught Obama in a rare moment as he spoke with Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings.
Can’t imagine what the President thinks is so funny about the situation. He’s personally precipitated a scenario that has resulted in chaos on the border, overwhelming federal border control authorities (nullifying their function in maintaining border security, and every frightening possibility this entails), and placed tens of thousands of children in profoundly dangerous situations – and he’s laughing?
It leads one to wonder if he can’t help but laugh at all of us, given that we’ve tolerated his criminality for so long without balking. Or perhaps he’s laughing because he knows how cooked his goose will be if the American people ever do start to take his antics seriously.
Or perhaps it’s drugs…
Congressional Republicans have cast a skeptical eye on a White House request for $3.7 billion to address the influx of child migrants at the U.S. border. Obama is battling political pressure from supporters and opponents alike to halt a growing humanitarian crisis along the Texas border with Mexico.
