Last week, panderers on the left — including our own president — leapt at an opportunity to play the discrimination card after a Muslim boy was arrested when a teacher thought he might have brought a homemade bomb to school.
It turned out to be a digital clock, but hey, in this wacky age we live in, it’s better to be safe than sorry, right?
Well, ever since the incident, the kid — Ahmed Mohamed — has become the poster child for CAIR — a group with ties to known terrorist organizations — and is thoroughly enjoying his new status as the face of Muslim relations in America, a position being used by lefties to pander their little hearts out to the Islamic community.
Strangely, it seems Mohamed’s father, Mohamed — yes, his first name is the same as his last, just like Mario in the dreadful Super Mario Bros. movie — has his own history of being involved in various stunts to “defend” Islam, as well as running for president in Sudan. Not once, but TWICE.
Check it out.
From NY Daily News:
The father of the Muslim teenager, who was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school, is a Sudanese immigrant who went from selling New York City hot dogs to twice running for president in his native country.
Mohamed ElHassan, who stood beside his son Ahmed Mohamed Wednesday and expressed how “proud” he is of him, grew up in an African village before moving to the U.S. to achieve the American dream, the North Dallas Gazette reported.
“Once I realized my dream was bigger than what Sudan had to offer I immigrated to America in the mid-1980s,” the father of seven told the paper in February.
One of the earliest instances of the standout citizen making national news was in 2011, when he sensationally stood up to an anti-Islamic pastor and defended the Koran as its defense attorney. That mock trial at a Florida church ended with the book’s burning, to ElHassan’s claimed shock.
In an interview with the Washington Post at the time, the devoted Muslim said he’d take on Rev. Terry Jones’ challenge because the holy book teaches that Muslims should engage in peaceful dialogue with Christians.
That wasn’t his only instance of fame back then.
In 2010, and again this year, the busy dad was nominated and ran for president of his native North African country from his home in Texas.
Here’s a bit more from Breitbart:
Also in 2011, ElHassan debated Robert Spencer on the questionf of “Does Islam Respect Human Rights?” Clearly, he was trying to score a victory against a famous “Islamophobe” and thus win a name for himself. ElHassan has been looking for publicity and chances to fight against “Islamophobia” for a considerable period. Now he has seized it, going so far as to claim his son was “tortured” by school and law enforcement officials.
He finally has the cause he has been seeking for so long. School officials were being prudent, protecting the children. Irving, Texas has had its share of jihad and sharia. Two Muslim sisters, Amina and Sarah Said, were honor murdered by their father, execution-style, in Irving several years ago. He is still at large. And Irving, Texas is only half an hour from Garland, Texas – the site of a jihad shooting on a free speech event last May. And the news is regularly riddled with stories of young Muslims, all lovely, sweet achievers, who suddenly — go jihad.
A lot of folks think — given the Mohamed family’s past — this whole situation might have been a scheme cooked up to provide Mohamed — the father — an opportunity to get in the lime light and further the Islamic agenda.
Honestly, as this whole thing unfolds, it does seem a bit fishy.
Regardless of whether it’s legit or a setup, the way Obama responded to this fiasco is incredibly inappropriate, especially since he hasn’t invited a single child from a family where a police officer has been murdered to the White House, nor the family of Kate Steinle.
This incident wasn’t about racism. It was about ensuring the safety of our children while they’re at school, and in a time as dangerous as the one we’re living in, the teacher did the right thing by erring on the side of caution.
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of details emerge about this whole situation in the coming weeks.
