Steve Elliott, a co-founder of Grassfire.com, one of the largest online networks of conservative citizens in the US, emailed an appeal to its members on Sunday concerning the plight of earthquake victims in Nepal.
Elliott’s friend and Reaching Unreached Nations (RUN) Ministries President Eric Watt texted Elliott about the situation in earthquake-ravaged Nepal, saying that people across the poor, South Asian nation are “terrorized.” Watt’s teams on the ground near Kathmandu reported at least 13 tremors since yesterday’s devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake.
“Fear is growing that an even stronger quake may be on the way,” Elliott said.
The latest death toll is more than 2,500 with nearly 6,000 injured, and Watt said that all domestic flights in the country have been canceled and major roads are shut down. “While RUN has some relief supplies on hand, [they’re] asking people to pray for the aftershocks to subside so additional humanitarian aid won’t be delayed further.”
According to Elliott, RUN is rushing to meet the physical and spiritual needs of thousands in Nepal, a nation that is only two percent Christian. They are seeking emergency donations to help ameliorate the crisis; interested parties can contribute here.
