The left continues to use their favorite form of pressure in society to effect change. That form is best found in what is known as emotional virtue. This is where decisions and even policies are created based solely on how things strike a person’s emotions. It happens constantly in society from those on the left. Using emotional virtue bypasses laws and even intelligent discourse. It is visceral and reactionary and because it is, people’s opinions are changed through coercion.
The only way this will stop is when enough people stand up to it and resist it, refusing to give in. Unfortunately, too many cave into the demands of those who use emotional virtue as a tool for change and of course, the perfect example of this is with the Confederate Flag.
This flag has been seen as a symbol of racism and hatred. Unfortunately for all of us, this is not an accurate depiction of the flag at all. The flag – at its very root and purpose – has been to represent individual colonies/states against the encroachment of the Federal government. In fact, the word “confederate” means to bring together in unity but fully opposed to any unification purposes intended by the federal government.
When individual states created their flags, they were opposed to the unification process that was being engendered by the Federal government. In fact, it is very clear from historical documents that the Federal government was intended to exist in order to be a support for the individual states. The Federal government was never supposed to dictate to those states.
However, over time, the Federal government (and those in charge of it) managed to gain access to and replace the state’s sovereignty with Federal autonomy. The Federal government did this exactly the way things like this have always been done whether it’s been done to companies, states, or nations: with money. Once the states began accepting money from the Federal government, those states lost their independence, sovereignty, and autonomy. They became enslaved to the Federal government.
Look at it like this: if a person is either stupid enough or has no other options but to accept money from a loan shark, what is the result? The result is that you owe your life to that loan shark. They will get their money from you or take it out on your person and those you love. At first, the loan shark is only happy to help you with your needs, but of course, intelligent people know it just a facade. The truth is that the loan shark will get his pound of flesh from you because that is how they work. Even banks are somewhat vicious when it comes to how things work. Many have lost homes and more when the housing crash of 2008 occurred. Why? Because banks made it super-easy to take out huge home equity loans. Instead of paying off debts, people used the money for cruises, home upgrades, and much more. Then when the housing market went south and home values with it, people couldn’t sell their homes for enough to pay off their huge debt. This put them “upside down” owing more than they could repay because their home was now worth a fraction of the value it was when they took out their first home equity loan.
The Federal government used whatever means necessary to enslave the states and it worked. Many southern states wanted out of the union because of the Federal government. They were in the process of seceding and even had a president and capital picked out in the south. Lincoln fought hard and it wasn’t that he fought to eliminate slavery. He fought to keep those southern states in tow and under the Federal government’s sword.
This was the reason for the Civil War (1861 to 1865). It wasn’t so much to eradicate slavery. Slavery was part of the southern economy but not all landowners owned slaves. Let’s remember please that Democrats were the main slaveowners at the time and also the ones who started the KKK as the terrorist arm of the Democrat Party.
It was not until 1868 that the 14th Amendment was enacted which granted citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States,” which included former slaves recently freed. This was three years after the Civil War ended. Lincoln’s main reason for going to war (“Northern aggression”) had to do with what America would lose should the states successfully secede from the union.
The Confederate flag varied from southern state to southern state, and the similarities identified the flags as noting each colony (with a star) and the “X” that said “Hands off!” to the Federal government. The flags had nothing to do with slavery at all.
But today, people think what they want to think and in spite of actual facts and truth, will come to their own asinine conclusions. Now, Amazon, Walmart, and other retailers are removing all merchandise that has the Confederate Flag on it. I guess that means that Lynyrd Skynyrd better change their CD covers to eliminate any reference to the Confederate Flag.
If you want a flag, there are a few places you can still get one, but hackers may wind up taking down those websites if the owners aren’t too careful.
A few years ago, here in my small town, during Halloween, the city placed up decorations. Included in those decorations were small “ghosts” placed here and there throughout town. They were attached to trees and posts with rope. In other words, it appeared as though the ghosts had been lynched. The city received numerous calls from black families saying how offensive and racist it was for those “ghosts” to be there. It was reminiscent of the KKK.
Of course, the problem is that the white figures were not KKK members and even if they were, what was the actual message at that point? It meant that the KKK members in their white sheets were “hanging” from the nearest tree! That was lost on people who don’t think critically though.
It was Halloween and they were GHOSTS! The city was not intending to offend anyone, much less black people! Yet, you have pockets of blacks who were offended simply because the ghostly figures reminded them of the KKK even though the decorations had nothing to do with the KKK at all.
Where does this leave us? Well, it leaves this country catering to the whims of those who live by emotional virtue. Today, it’s the Confederate flag. Tomorrow, someone will say that the word “noose” should be outlawed and rope with it. Muslims are apparently “offended” when they hear the word “pork.”
Emotional Virtue is a form of tyranny that affects everything good in society! It will not relent and people who use it allow themselves to be filled with rage or “righteous indignation” at something that offends them. Meanwhile, Charlie Rangel continues to call white people “crackers” and no one is offended. This is a man who is an elected official in the Federal government. He has no respect. He is a racist.
But this is what emotional virtue creates, a society where racism toward whites is allowed and acceptable. It’s where hatred toward Christians and conservatives becomes the norm. It’s where it is fine to physically attack whites because a black person hates white people. Though he’s arrested and charged, hate crime charges are not part of the picture, though if some white person pushed a black jogger into oncoming traffic because he hated blacks, hate crime charges would be automatic.
The only way to overcome the type of tyranny created by emotional virtue is by standing against it. Buy and fly a Confederate flag! Stop taking the garbage being foisted on Americans by leftwing narcissistic nutcases. Be yourself and stop giving in!
