(UPI) — A female suicide bomber killed one police officer and injured another outside a police station in Istanbul, Turkey.
Officers prevented the woman from going inside the police station in the tourist area of Sultanahmet Square. Moments before detonating, the attacker told officers she was a tourist who left her wallet inside the building, Istanbul Gov. Vasif Sahin told reporters.
The police officer who died in the attack was identified as Kenan Kumas.
The identity of the woman who died in the attack remains unknown but she’s reported as speaking English with a “thick accent.”

Public transportation was shut down briefly after the attack.
The incident follows last Thursday’s attack directed at Istanbul police when a man fired weapons and threw grenades at police officers. The man was arrested and no one was hurt.
