Not long ago I received an unasked for email from a group I’d never heard about. The subject? Why Black History month and Reparations for Slave Labor. You’ll recall that slave labor using the Irish occurred near the beginning of life in America. But this isn’t the slave labor that the email spoke of.
You’re probably also aware of the fact that Chinese – generally considered second or third class people in America way back when – were also used as slave labor to build the railroads from one end of America to the other. This wasn’t the slave labor discussed either.
Of course, this particular email referred to one specific slavery and as far as the folks involved are concerned, that was the only slavery that mattered. Oh, and before we get too much further into this subject, I’d like to point out that the first slave owner was black person who went to court to ensure that he would be able to buy other blacks to have as slaves.
At any rate, below is the content of the email I received. I’ve left the emphasis and links in and have reprinted it here as it looked when I received it.
Let’s make Black History by getting enough signatures on the Reparations Petition to require a response from the White House.
This is a grassroots effort, but when enough of us unite to form a critical mass, we can do the impossible.
We need 100,000 signatures on the Reparations Petition. Please sign the Petition at www.reparationslaborunion.org. For a brief explanation about the petition, please watch the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCgefAUiKn4 .
Let’s create a buzz by making the video go viral! Forward this email to your family & friends!

Anita E. Belle, J.D.
President, The Reparations Labor Union
What you need to know is that America is being set up. There is a “fact-seeking” committee already set up and in-progress attempting to determine if reparations for slavery are “needed.” In the above email, you’ll note that Anita E. Belle wants to create a petition that the White House will have to notice and respond to, implying that they’ve never even considered the idea of slavery reparations and without a massive “grassroots” effort by people across the United States, it wouldn’t even be considered.
Who are these people kidding? Themselves, basically. In January of 1989, Rep. John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) introduced a bill regarding reparations that is designed to do four things:
- It acknowledges the fundamental injustice and inhumanity of slavery
- It establishes a commission to study slavery, its subsequent racial and economic discrimination against freed slaves;
- It studies the impact of those forces on today’s living African Americans; and
- The commission would then make recommendations to Congress on appropriate remedies to redress the harm inflicted on living African Americans.
Conyers’ bill – HR 3745 – actually created a Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African Americans Act (1989). Conyers notes on his website that he has “re-introduced HR 40 every Congress since 1989, and will continue to do so until it’s passed into law.” HR 40 sets up the committee to study the problem.
Neither Conyers (or other race-baiters) are going to give up and in my view, the unasked for email that I received from Belle is merely another form of creating hype surrounding the bill. According to one of the websites noted above related to the petition for reparations, it states, “We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to repair the breach of racism that continues to divide the United States.”
The idea that paying out millions of dollars to people who did not actually suffer directly from slavery is absurd. Moreover, the additional belief that somehow paying out millions or billions to blacks because of what no white person did today will do nothing to “repair the breach of racism” in the United States. In fact, I’m quite certain it will only worsen it.
Whites living today never owned slaves. Blacks living today were never slaves. All of us can go back into our own histories and pull stories of inequities done to someone in our ancestry line. The idea that throwing money at the situation will heal things is absurd and a mockery.
According to the the petition page, the year 2019 marks the 400th anniversary “of America’s involvement in the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.” We can assume that blacks are targeting that year (if not sooner) to make this bill – HR 40 – the law of the land. I’m quite certain that President Obama would enjoy being president when that happened and of course, that would need to happen before he’s out of office, by 2016.
Passing this law would do several things for America:
- Further the destruction of America’s economy through payouts to people who really do not deserve them with money that America does not have
- Further the racial divide between whites and blacks, not “heal” anything at all, and
- Allow Obama’s hatred of America take a final form by stealing from the haves to give to the have nots
The reality is that bills like John Conyers, Jr.’s HR 40 are based on nothing but racism. The constant references to slavery and “entrenched racism,” along with “white privilege” by racist blacks in America are used as wedges to widen the gap between the races, not engender any form of healing.
I wasn’t there during slavery. You weren’t there. No black living today was a slave and if racism was so totally entrenched in America, people like John Conyers, Jr. would never have been elected to office, Congress would not have a “black caucus,” nor would there be a black president sitting in the Oval Office. Facts like this are ignored by people who are blinded by their own racism thoroughly entrenched within them.
It’s really not any form of equality that racist black leaders want today. They seek the destruction of the white race as well as America. We need look no further than South Africa to realize what happens when white people become the hunted, while black leaders look the other way.
