As widely reported this week, with President Barack Obama’s highly controversial announcement that he plans to “normalize” relations with the communist Castro regime in Cuba, law enforcement authorities expressed the hope that this would facilitate the extradition of certain fugitives who have sought refuge there over the years.
Most notably, this would include Black Panther Party member Joanne Chesimard (a.k.a. Assata Shakur), who was convicted for the murder of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster in 1977. Shakur escaped custody and has reportedly been living in Cuba since 1984.
After Obama’s announcement and the hope expressed by authorities in New Jersey that they might finally be able to bring Chesimard to justice, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) stated that she and five other members of Congress would fight any attempts to have Chesimard returned from Cuba.
Whether or not Chesimard is still in Cuba, the assertion by any congressional representative that they would intercede on behalf of a convicted terrorist and cop killer is disgusting and disgraceful in the extreme. Such an individual is unfit to hold public office, and their sentiments reflect the incendiary and radical attitudes that have given rise to the race-based misrepresentations and propaganda that we have seen proliferating in recent weeks. To people such as Lee and the racial provocateurs who have been so vociferous of late, advancing the divisive leftist agenda is far more important that getting to the truth regarding allegations of race-based police profiling, for example.
Even more disturbing is the phenomenon of our government – and this includes Obama in particular – empathizing with and facilitating this division, as well as facilitating the actions of radicals and terrorists in general, both here and abroad. In addition to Obama having fomented racial division via his rhetoric, there have also been multiple instances of loss of life as a result of his having released known terrorists from custody. In 2009, Obama released Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who went on to lead the ISIS terror group. ISIS has maimed and murdered untold thousands across Syria and Iraq. Two weeks ago, he released Pakistani Taliban leader Latif Mehsud, the second in command of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This is the exact group claiming responsibility for the December 16 school massacre in Peshawar, Pakistan, which left 141 dead, including over 120 children.
In June of this year, Obama released five Taliban generals in exchange for Bowe Robert Bergdahl, a soldier who had been held captive by the Taliban-aligned Haqqani network in Afghanistan since June 2009. While it is quite likely that Bergdahl is either a deserter or an outright traitor, considering the track record of this administration, we are unlikely to get to the bottom of that tale anytime soon. Those who will lose their lives as a result of these five savages being again at large remains to be seen.
In the case of Joanne Chesimard, it bears mentioning that her escape from custody was carried out by the May 19 Communist Organization, a Marxist revolutionary group founded by Weather Underground member Elizabeth Duke (a.k.a. Joanne Newman). Newman/Duke fled custody in 1985, and has been a fugitive ever since. In 2009 however, representatives of the Obama Justice Department facilitated the vacating of all warrants and indictments against her. Why Obama would take such a keen interest in this individual is uncertain, but all efforts on the part of investigators and private citizens to get the government to justify this action have been stonewalled.
So, from Obama’s cozy relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood, the New Black Panther Party, former Weather Underground operatives (such as founder Bill Ayers), and other radical groups, to Rep. Barbara Lee’s advocacy for Joanne Chesimard and the ongoing fraternization between the Congressional Black Caucus and oppressive communist regimes like the Castros’ in Cuba, it appears as though legitimizing communists, terrorists, and anti-American sentiments has become the order of the day among the powerful in our government.
It is a disgrace, it is treason, and it demands decisive action. This is unlikely to come however, given the proliferation of socialists and communists within the Democrat Party, and the preeminence of progressives and invertebrate weasels in the Republican Party.
