President Obama is clearly engaged in stuffing as many illegals into our territory as possible. Most are from beyond our southern border—Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. Unless he’s channeling Emma Lazarus, he is working to alter forever the demographic makeup of America, before he leaves office. And it’s not just to gain Democratic voters; it’s to despoil America; it could have no other purpose.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
These majestic words were fitting in 1883, at the dawn of the Industrial Age, when America needed immigrants. The 20 million America welcomed between 1880 and 1920 came from countries with a relatively advanced culture, so they easily assimilated into ours, and helped build America—and every single one followed the stringent immigration protocol.
Last November 20th, our rogue president extended his staff over the multitude of illegal aliens living here, and made some 5 million of them virtual citizens, with the right to work and join the Social Security System. The program was to begin in May, but it surfaced that the Administration misled a Federal judge hearing a challenge to Obama’s unconstitutional action: they had already given work permits to 100,000 illegals.
A Shadow Immigration System
However, according to a February 2nd story from TheBlaze.com, 100K was only a tiny fraction of work permits that had been given out. The story cites a report from the Center for Immigration Studies saying, “The Obama administration has operated a “shadow immigration system”…one that has handed out millions of work permits to illegal aliens and aliens with unknown legal status… since 2009” [Emphasis mine].
The study was drawn from “government data that CIS received in a Freedom of Information Request.” Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at CIS said, “I was astonished at the huge number of work permits that are being issued by the Obama administration outside the legal immigration system, through executive discretion.” Whatever that is.
Simple addition from the article and the included report shows the number of work permits given out to aliens not legally qualified to work, or of unidentified status adds up to 3,882,000.
Of these, 982,000 were given to “illegal aliens or aliens unqualified for admission….” Among those, 1,200 “were issued to aliens who were denied asylum, were suspected of using fraudulent documents, were stowaways, or were refused at a port of entry….” 1.2 million work permits were issued to aliens who “had a visa status that does not authorize employment.”
“1.7 million were issued to aliens whose status was unknown, not recorded by the adjudicator, or not disclosed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services…”
That flips the bird to millions of unemployed and under-employed Americans.
Notably, these permits were issued since Obama’s first year in office—proving his plan, from the start, was to shred the social fabric of America.
Obama’s “shadow immigration system” was public knowledge well before the Republican Congress voted to fund Obama’s 2014 unlawful amnesty.
Obama’s in-your-face flouting of the law began back in 2012.
On June 15th of that year, Obama unilaterally changed the law to allow children of illegal immigrants to remain in this country, under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). To be eligible, they must’ve been brought to the U.S when they were younger than 16, and before June 15, 2007. They also had to be younger than 31 as of June 2012.
Pew Research states that, as of last December, government data indicates “about 702,000 unauthorized immigrants have had their applications accepted for review since the program began in August 2012.”
DACA had the “unintended” consequence of encouraging a flood of UAC—unaccompanied alien children—to invade our southern border last year, largely from countries south of Mexico. Many of these illegals were bussed to states around the Nation.
Or was it unintended? TheBlaze reported that the govt. had put out a call January 29, 2014, on a site advertising “Federal Business Opportunities” for contractors to escort the children: “Transport will be required for either category of [Unaccompanied Children] or individual juveniles, to include both male and female juveniles. There will be approximately 65,000 UAC in total…,” the notice read, oddly similar to the Refugee Council’s estimate of 60,000 that were expected to come in.
National Review reported that—contrary to the DHS claim that those who’d swarmed over the border “are a top priority to have their cases decided in immigration court,” in fact “more than 90 percent…didn’t show up for their immigration hearings and joined the illegal population.”
Less than 2 weeks after the midterm election, on November 16, 2014 The Washington Times reported: “The Obama Administration quietly announced a program late last week to create a legal channel for thousands of “Other than Mexican” (OTM) children to come to the U.S….the policy could open the door to immigrants from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala petitioning to have their children still in their home countries join them in the U.S. as refugees.”
Republicans called the move “border sabotage,” but they have yet to do a single thing about the president’s unconstitutional immigration actions. Everyone seemed to forget this OTM program until it recently came out that Obama was flying the children into the U.S., at taxpayer expense. More on this below.
Four days later, President Obama announced he would take [illegal] action to shield from deportation some 5 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., if they are parents of U.S. citizen- or legal–permanent resident children. He would also give them work permits plus Social Security cards.
This program is called DAPA—Deferred Action for Parental Accountability. You can read the details on this page, surmounted by the smiling face of Rep. Luis V. Gutiérrez, the open-borders activist who now shapes America’s demographics, together with our president. No wonder he’s smiling: every amnesty fantasy he ever envisioned is coming to pass.
DAPA is on hold, due to the intercession of one courageous Federal judge, Andrew S. Hanen, who stayed the president’s plainly illegal amnesty, pursuant to a lawsuit by 26 states. He later denied the White House’s motion to reverse the stay. Arguments are to be heard in the Fifth Circuit Appeals Court on April 17th.
You should know that DAPA, the parents’ program, also expanded the 2012 DACA children’s program described above.
DAPA makes children of illegal immigrants eligible if they were brought here before January 1, 2010, instead of the original June 15, 2007 deadline. It also lifts the DACA 31-year age cap, so they’ll be eligible no matter how old they are now. Pew estimates this provision alone would “…allow an additional 330,000 people…to apply for and receive temporary deportation relief.”
Republican Senate Collaborates with Obama
A simple summary of this alphabet soup is: Obama thumbed his nose at the law and the Constitution, and the GOP-controlled Senate collaborated with him. In January, the House passed the DHS funding bill HR 240, with two amendments by Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Robert Aderholt (R-AL) that blocked funding for Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty.
After HR 240 got to the Senate, Democrats filibustered the bill four times. After a month of dithering, Senate Majority Leader McConnell and his RINO brigade partnered with all the Democrats to pass the bill—minus the House defunding amendments.
McConnell sent the Bill back to the House. In the end, the House was pressured—in part by Repubs—into voting for the revised bill, thereby funding Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty.
The comic figure in all this is Mitch McConnell: he pretends to be faithful to the voters but only goes through the motions. We all know he could’ve passed the House Bill—unchanged—by Reconciliation, the way the Democrats passed Obamacare. That would only require 51 votes to pass, not the usual 60, and can’t be filibustered.
In 2013, Harry Reid changed the filibuster rule, reducing the threshold from 60 votes to 51 votes for breaking a filibuster with respect to Senate approval of executive and judicial nominees. McConnell could’ve done the same thing with respect to all legislation. Harry Reid can block him every time with a filibuster. Does McConnell really intend for the Republican Senate to be Obama’s rubber stamp until 2017?
Can’t he see, from the actions cited above, that Obama is bent on the destruction of the country as we know it? Aside from the damage to the separation of powers doctrine, the economic cost of absorbing millions of unskilled workers is inestimable.
Maybe he’ll notice the above-noted program to fly in “refugee” minors into the U.S., which has begun. It’s called the “In-Country Refugee/Parole Program for Central American Minors.” National Review’s Eliana Johnson told Fox News they’re even flying in previously deported aliens, and convicted felons can apply for an exclusion. She added that one reporter was told these waivers were given “very broadly.”
These illegals are coming in under Refugee Resettlement, so they will get benefits like: “being greeted at the airport, help buying a home and food subsidies,” said Ms. Johnson.
One would think a “refugee” should be fleeing oppression. In Obama’s Bizarro World, they’re fleeing poverty. And America should spread its wealth.
