It is time that we stopped the soft-pedaling of our message and looking at things through rose-colored glasses. Our country has been taken over by operatives of an ideology that is the opposite of what the wise men who founded the nation had brilliantly pieced together and anguished over to see that it was correct and uplifting and God-honoring. They would be shocked if they could see what we countenance and allow today.
The Marxist ideology is what we are up against, so please folks, stop referring to it as liberalism and stop calling the perpetrators liberals. They are enacting an ideology that is Marxist in root and intent, and they are Marxists who would see the republic become a grand schedule to redistribute wealth from those who create to those who merely take. The notion which is grounded in Scripture that a man who will not work should not eat is being replaced by some idea that “we are our brothers keeper,” which to the Marxist means that government can and should take from those who produce and give to those who will not.
In furtherance of this notion, the Church is vilified and demonized as something other than what it is. If the Church (i.e. the people in the Church) were meeting the mandate that Christ set up for us as an outpouring of love, there would be no need for government programs overseen by bureaucrats whose source of motivation is self-interest.
Christians are motivated by a desire to serve God and in that every opportunity available to be charitable and loving should be open to the folks who name themselves as followers of Christ. The “hand up” and not the “hand out” has always been the Christian way. It is out of the beneficence of God that we share his bounty and his love. It is in obedience to Him, whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light, that we take on the tasks of charity and care for our fellow man.
We have traded away a great birthright and responsibility and allowed the bureaucrats of government to take what should have been ours to give, the love of our fellow man as an outworking of the love of Him who first loved us.
Let’s call things what they are people, for that is truth. Take back from government that which was ours to give in the beginning. Hold things in common together which is far different from the notion of communism. Give because it is such a wonderful gift that we have to share, the love that God allows to flow through us. Be salty while you are at it.
