It was the wise and Scripturally-attuned John Adams who stated that “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” And it is in this observation that we see the roots of why those entrusted with our direction would turn around, ignore that public’s wishes and vote in exactly the opposite direction.
When the authorities in earlier ages wanted to entrust responsibility to someone, they made a careful check of the persons history and it was the folks who knew them best in their classes or communities and their churches who could best be relied upon to give an “unvarnished” observation of the person being examined. The investigators knew what to ask and how to evaluate the answers. They were looking for compromises in a person’s life that would leave them open to influence by others, management by the dishonest, or even bribery in support of issues in which some might profit at the expense of the public. The public trust was not to be compromised and these invigilators made sure that the person was vetted for the sleight hint of moral shadiness. After all, the nation deserved, as President Adams pointed out, to be overseen by a “moral and religious” people. In other words, those that reflected the morality of “We, The People.”
What we are observing today is the ugliness of compromise, the smudge of accommodation, the stench of dishonesty, and the results that are borne by the nation when those entrusted with its management seek personal protection, personal gain, or other aims and objectives than those that would provide for the honest protection of the freedoms and liberties of the people. When lawmakers turn their backs on promises made to change the direction of the country, the common man has the right to know from whence the lawmaker is drawing his instruction. We have seen in very recent history those that did not honor their promises and have voted in direct opposition to beliefs that they had sworn to uphold. What had been sworn to be their world view had suddenly been replaced by another. What was misrepresented as being worthy of support suddenly was not. What was voiced as being that which the representative would stand firm against found no opposition when the votes were taken.
So let us ask the inevitable question – What happened?
And let me give you the answer – We elected those without a moral compass whose direction was set by the God that John Adams drew his morals from. In the compromise of marriage vows, greed, avarice, lust, ego and outright dishonesty were all parlayed by others as levers of blackmail to be used against our representatives. How would I know this? – We have only to observe the history of Barack Hussein Obama and the methods employed time and again by his representative thugs, Valerie Jarrett and David Axelrod to see the path that is being taken moment by moment and day by day. We have trusted the nations well being into the hands of those whose compromised lives are easy prey for the blackmail and threats of the thugs who rule supreme.
God help us.
